Valve, Local Partners to Bring Steam Game Platform to China Valve, Local Partners to Bring Steam Game Platform to China

(Yicai Global) Nov. 30 -- Valve will  partner with a Beijing-based video game maker and the Shanghai  government to release its game distribution platform called Steam in  China.

Valve and Perfect World Games penned an  agreement with the Shanghai government for the launch of the platform,  blogging and online games site Weibo Game reported.

Washington's Valve and the Chinese firm's  two units of Perfect World Zhengqi Shanghai Multimedia Technology and  Perfect World Game began their collaboration regarding Steam in June to  give Chinese players and developers access to the content. Chinese  players make up 22 percent of Steam's users and the group has grown the  fastest, exceeding 30 million users, according to Valve.

Some Chinese players got concerned if the  games will be modified after Steam China launch and if they will be  able to access the ones they have purchased before via international  platforms, their posts on Weibo show. Valve replied that they may still  access their original Valve accounts after the new release.
