(Yicai Global) Nov. 30 -- Valve will partner with a Beijing-based video game maker and the Shanghai government to release its game distribution platform called Steam in China.
Valve and Perfect World Games penned an agreement with the Shanghai government for the launch of the platform, blogging and online games site Weibo Game reported.
Washington's Valve and the Chinese firm's two units of Perfect World Zhengqi Shanghai Multimedia Technology and Perfect World Game began their collaboration regarding Steam in June to give Chinese players and developers access to the content. Chinese players make up 22 percent of Steam's users and the group has grown the fastest, exceeding 30 million users, according to Valve.
Some Chinese players got concerned if the games will be modified after Steam China launch and if they will be able to access the ones they have purchased before via international platforms, their posts on Weibo show. Valve replied that they may still access their original Valve accounts after the new release.
