(Yicai Global) Nov. 30 – Xiaomi, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has posted record sales in India in a sign that the company is expanding its share in one of the world's biggest markets. Xiaomi has sold more than two million mobile phone handsets in India in the third quarter this year, up 150 percent year-on-year.
The sales figures released by the company break its previous sales record in the Indian market. Its bestselling models in India are Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3S. The Chinese smartphone maker continued to grow in India against the backdrop of stagnant sales in China.
Xiaomi prioritizes India in its internationalization strategy due to enormous market potential of the world's second most populous country. It has recently become the fourth largest smartphone brand in India.
