(Yicai Global) Dec. 29 -- China’s coming-of-age drama film Youth has surpassed CNY1 billion (USD153 million) at the box office as of yesterday, the 14th day since its release.
The takings make it the sixth Chinese film to surpass the milestone figure this year.
Feng Xiaogang directed Youth, adapting it from a novel by Yan Geling. It tells the story of an adolescent group in an army art troupe around the 1970s and explores their emotions as they grow and mature.
Three A-share listed companies produced the movie. Huayi Brothers Media Corp. [SHE:300027], Beijing Jingxi Culture & Tourism Co. [SHE:000802] and Cultural Investment Holdings Co. [SHA:600715].
