Yicai analyzed more than 10 EV models at random and found that, except for the conventional door handles of GWM's Ora and Volkswagen's ID.UNYX 06, there are mainly three types of handle design: flush used on Tesla's Model Y and Xpeng's Mona 03, pop-out on Toyota's bz5 and Seres' Aito M5, and semi-flush on the Aito M8 EV, and Xpeng's P7. The fatal crash involving a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra raised public concerns about EVs' flush door handles and a possible push for stricter safety standards in China.
