A Beijing court handed down the first criminal conviction for pet poisoning in the city today, sentencing the defendant to four years in prison, National Business Daily reported, citing the owner of one of the dogs that died. The case stemmed from a 2022 incident in which over 10 dogs in a residential compound were poisoned, killing nine, along with two stray cats.
