TikTok and its Chinese owner ByteDance inked a deal with investors Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX to create TikTok USDS to handle US data security, Yicai learned from an internal memo sent by TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew. ByteDance retains a 19.9% stake in the JV and remains its largest single shareholder, while the new investors will hold a majority 45% stake. The deal is set to close by Jan. 22.
