China should accelerate the adoption of humanoid robots in manufacturing by solving engineering challenges for mass production, expanding application scenarios with policy support for advanced factories, and strengthening safety standards, Lei Jun, chairman of Xiaomi and deputy to the NPC, suggested at the Two Sessions. He also warned humanoids remain costly and unreliable, stuck as apprentices rather than transitioning to full-time formal workers.
