China today issued new rules for individual medical insurance accounts, requiring all regions to implement a whitelist system for pharmacy payments by the end of September next year. Only drugs and basic medical consumables will be eligible for reimbursement, while food, cosmetics, and daily necessities will not. The rules also pilot the use of individual accounts to pay for influenza vaccines.
