Hong Kong aims to forge a vibrant digital currency ecosystem by testing different forms of digital money among wholesale CBDCs, bank-backed tokenized deposits, and regulated stablecoins, Hong Kong Monetary Authority's Chief Executive Eddie Yue, who led a delegation from the Hong Kong association of banks on a visit to Beijing, said at a media briefing on June 8. Anchorpoint Technology and HSBC will roll out their stablecoins later this year, focusing on cross-border payments by mid-year and retail scenarios, he added.
