Moderna's shares [NASDAQ: MRNA] surged 177% to an over two-year high yesterday, after the drugmaker and its partner Merck unveiled breakthrough trial results for their personalized mRNA melanoma vaccine. The therapy, which combines their novel investigational mRNA-based INT with Merck’s anti-PD-1 therapy Keytruda, proved significantly more effective at treating advanced melanoma than today's standard treatment alone.
