China's central bank gave Visa the green light to begin preparations for setting up a domestic bank card clearing institution, which could be the country's first wholly foreign-owned entity of this kind, paving the way for its yuan clearing business. Visa needs to complete preparations within one year before it can issue Visa-branded yuan cards or provide clearing services in China.
