A 5.6-magnitude earthquake jolted Baicheng county in China's northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at 10.56 p.m. yesterday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center. The epicenter was observed at 41.98 degrees north latitude and 82.56 degrees east longitude with a depth of 16 km.
