Twelve people were confirmed dead and four remained missing as of 6 p.m. on Aug. 22, after a steel cable snapped during a tensioning operation at a bridge under construction on the Qinghai province section of the Xining-Chengdu Railway in Jainca county, Xinhua reported on Aug. 23. The Qinghai government has already established an investigation team to probe the accident.
