(Yicai Global) Oct. 29 -- More than 60 Fortune 500 companies are exhibiting in the Second China International Import Expo's medical equipment and healthcare area, double last year's tally, said Candy Wu, who is in charge of the area.

Japan's Terumo will introduce the world's finest insulin injection needle, the Nanopass Junior, which, with an outer diameter of 0.18 millimeters greatly reduces the pain diabetes sufferers experience.

The US-based Boston Scientific will bring in its Galen Award-winning brain protection system and new duodenal stent (an insertion to keep the small intestine open) in their Asian debut.

The UK's GlaxoSmithKline will present its biological agent for treating lupus in its first world appearance, and the US Johnson & Johnson's Janssen Pharmaceutica unit will display the world's finest intracardiac ultrasound catheter, which provides real-time imaging with less trauma.

Many large pharma firms of the ilk of France's Sanofi, Janssen and Ireland-headquartered Medtronic have already signed agreements of intent to secure prime space at next year's expo.

The second CIIE's medical and health care exhibition space is 45,00 square meters, up from last year's 30,000. This year's area is divided into pharmaceuticals, medical devices and services zones.
