(Yicai Global) Sept. 19 -- Globally renown thinkers, including Roberto Azevedo, director-general of the World Trade Organization, Jin Liqun, president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and Christopher Pissarides, Nobel Prize winner in economics, will hold speeches in the second and bigger Hongqiao International Economic Forum which will be held on Nov. 5.

The theme of this year's event is economic opening-up and innovation, and the number of participants is expected to be larger than last year, Chen Chao, deputy director of a trade relations bureau under the commerce ministry, said at a press briefing. The event will be held in Shanghai on the first day of the China International Import Expo.

Mukhisa Kituyi, secretary-general of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, as well as more than 50 top corporate leaders, will join the large group of speakers at the forum.

Various types of companies engaged in fields including food, medicine, and finance, have applied for memberships to join the event, said Kong Fu'an, deputy director of the CIIE bureau. About 1,500 guests are expected to attend the opening ceremony and invitations have been sent to 800 guests for sub-forums.

Last year's event had over 40 speakers and it attracted more than 2,400 visitors.
