(Yicai) Sept. 29 -- Economy class airfares in China jumped almost 22 percent on average over the recent Mid-Autumn Festival holiday versus two years ago, as a result of a pronounced recovery in international travel.

The average economy class ticket cost CNY763 (USD114) over the three-day break, according to data from Flight Manager, a booking services and flight tracking app. The number of flights and passengers grew by around 20 percent and 19 percent, respectively.

This year’s data was compared with 2024’s because last year’s Mid-Autumn Festival fell adjacent to the National Day holiday, creating an eight-day break that renders direct comparison unsuitable.

Chinese airlines operated 47,991 passenger flights from Sept. 25 to 27, transporting 6.06 million people with an average load factor of 79 percent, according to DAST, Flight Manager’s proprietary system for aviation big data analytics.

The recovery and expansion of international travel stood out as a key feature of the holiday. The number of international and regional flights was 2,479, 2,421, and 2,467 each day, respectively, a 28 percent increase on two years ago. The number of flights in China rose 18 percent.
