Apple Helps WeChat Refine Dark Mode Interface Apple Helps WeChat Refine Dark Mode Interface

(Yicai Global) March 10 -- Tencent Holdings' WeChat is collaborating with Apple to help optimize the user experience for the messaging and lifestyle app when used in dark mode.

The Shenzhen-based firm expects to add the updated interface in the app's next update, Zhang Jun, director of public relations, said on his personal Weibo account yesterday.

Apple recently updated its App Store regulations to require all applications made using its iOS 13 or higher software development kit to better support dark mode and other iOS features. The Californian smartphone giant will remove any non-compliant apps.

Apple debuted dark mode, which reduces how much light screens emit, in iOS 13 in June. Third-party developers can implement the feature into apps using the company's application programming interface.

WeChat created its own dark mode in April 2019 but quickly removed it, joking that it did not want users to spend their precious evening time consumed by their phones.
