Self-Driving Cars to Account for 20% of Auto Sales in China by 2030, Huawei Says Self-Driving Cars to Account for 20% of Auto Sales in China by 2030, Huawei Says

(Yicai Global) Sept. 23 -- Driverless vehicles should account for more than a fifth of all car sales in China by 2030, according to telecoms giant Huawei Technologies.

Moreover, the market penetration rate of electric vehicles should exceed 50 percent by 2030, the Paper reported yesterday, citing the Shenzhen-based phonemaker.

The handset giant is forming ties with the automotive industry. Huawei is striving to empower the car sector to usher in a stage of intelligent driving, services, and production, it said.

The telecoms equipment maker has recently partnered with carmakers Hozon Auto, BAIC BluePark New Energy Technology, Sokon Group, Chang'an Automobile Group, and Guangzhou Automobile Group to provide the firms with software to introduce new smart features.

Huawei made some other predictions regarding energy and artificial intelligence. Renewable resources, including wind and solar power, will make up 50 percent of the world’s total power generation by 2030, it said.

The changes should be far-reaching. The digital world will completely integrate with the physical world in the next 10 years so that humans and machines can have cognitive and emotional interactions, said Huawei.

AI will be everywhere to help humans gain the ability to surpass ourselves, said Huawei. Consequently, AI should assist people in achieving carbon neutrality quicker via digital means, it suggested.
