(Yicai Global) Jan. 2 -- Avit's shares jumped today after the TV hardware and software maker said that it has launched China's first virtual reality cable channel with local partners in some Chinese regions.
Avit's stock price [SHE:300264] climbed by the daily limit of 10 percent to CNY5.30 (US 76 cents) this morning. That is the highest reading since mid-December.
Avit and broadcasters in China's northeast Jilin and northwest Shaanxi provinces, as well as Binzhou city in eastern Shandong province, kicked off the VR channel yesterday, the Shenzhen-based company said in a statement. The partners will share the gains.
Users can pay a monthly subscription fee for the on-demand channel or separately for each show. They would need to buy a VR headset from the service provider.
Avit's VR unit, which produces the shows, visions VR to be integrated with tourism, education, property, and concerts.
