(Yicai Global) Sept. 14 -- Baidu Map of China's internet giant Baidu Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDU) works with Beijing Traffic Management Bureau to jointly build 'Smart Lights' to realize the second level of network connection of signal data for traffic management.

The 'smart lights' will cover downtown Beijing, which includes the busy business district. The smart lights could accurately calculate the traffic flow and information to help make it smooth through smart technologies, the Smart Transportation Journal reported yesterday.

The Beijing Traffic Management Bureau will also explore the application of traffic management and travel time calculation, and traffic prediction and navigation to enhance the overall efficiency of the traffic flow.

Baidu Map will work in the field of smart travel with companies and institutions such as Germany's Siemens AG [FRA:SIE] and China's Hisense Electric Co. [SHA:600060], as well as North China University of Technology

China's road network management is a late starter. Therefore, the network connection of the signal data is of tremendous significance in the whole country, opening the smart lights era, said Li Zhitang, general manager of Baidu Map public platform. Baidu will provide further signal optimization solutions in line with the characteristics of Beijing's traffic conditions, he added.
