(Yicai) Sept. 14 -- Beijing will team up with neighboring Tianjin and Hebei province to jointly develop a space computing power industry ecosystem, establishing an integrated cross-regional computing power network to meet the growing demand for intelligent computing power.

The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, and Xiong'an New Area and Langfang in Hebei co-launched an initiative to build a space computing power corridor at the China Computing Power Conference in Langfang on Sept. 12, aiming to collaborate on technological breakthroughs, scenario exploration, and cluster cultivation.

BDA will manufacture commercial satellites and carrier rockets, and TEDA will rely on the National Supercomputing Center, which hosts the Tianhe supercomputer series, to integrate supercomputing and space computing power.

Xiong'an New Area, the home of China Satellite Network Group, a state-owned enterprise focused on satellite internet construction, will promote the synergistic development of satellite internet and computing power networks. Langfang will leverage its position as a computing power hub to coordinate terrestrial and space computing power.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, China is accelerating the construction of computing power infrastructure. As of June 30, its intelligent computing capacity was 2,185 EFLOPS, up 177 percent from a year earlier, Zhong Zhihong, chief engineer at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said at the conference.

China had more than 70 computing power transmission channels at the end of June, with 17 national computing power regional nodes approved for construction, Zhong noted.

Hebei is actively developing an intelligent computing power cluster around the cities of Langfang and Zhangjiakou, which are adjacent to Beijing. The province's intelligent computing capacity has reached 556 EFLOPS, with 2.5 million standard server racks, both figures ranking first among Chinese provincial-level regions, according to a report released at the conference.
