(Yicai Global) July 11 -- Sherry Carbary, president of the Chinese arm of US plane maker Boeing, will retire this year, and Liu Qing will replace her as acting president, the firm said.

Carbary, who worked as Boeing China president for the past four years and at Boeing for over 30 years, plans to retire within 2023, the Beijing-based company announced yesterday. Liu, who leads Boeing China’s government relations team, will act as president when the time comes, it added.

Liu has more than 20 years of experience as a senior executive at foreign businesses in China. He was vice chairman of Ford Motor China and vice president and general counsel at Ford International Markets Group.

Boeing extends its deep gratitude to Carbary for her contributions to the firm over the past 34 years, particularly since she served as president of Boeing China, said Brendan Nelson, president of Boeing Global.

Liu is an experienced leader with a global vision, Nelson noted, adding that his deep insights and rich experience in China will help the plane maker serve its major Chinese clients and continue to build win-win collaborations with local partners.

Boeing entered the Chinese market more than 50 years ago and plays a crucial role in the country’s air passenger and cargo transport system. China participates in manufacturing all of the Boeing jet models in service, including the 737, 767, 777, and 787 Dreamliner.
