(Yicai Global) April 22 -- Chinese video platform iXigua will cooperate with the UK’s BBC Studios and the US documentary brand Discovery Channel in the content field, it announced today.

iXigua and BBC Studios, which is the commercial arm of the UK state broadcaster the BBC, will jointly produce two documentaries, ‘The Thirty Years of Hubble: Revealing the Wonders of the Universe’ and ‘The Primate Animal Kingdom,’ Tech media 36kr reported. The BBC will in turn provide hundreds of documentaries for iXigua, including ‘Civilisation’ and ‘Frozen Planet.’

iXigua and the Discovery Channel operated by US-based Discovery will jointly launch a documentary focusing on the global Covid-19 pandemic in the near future. Several Discovery documentaries, such as ‘Wilderness Survival’ have already aired on iXigua's platforms.

iXigua is a personalized recommendation video app of TikTok owner Beijing Bytedance Technology. It has more than 300 million users and over 4 billion average daily video views and 70-plus minutes of daily per capita use, online publishing platform Medium reported in Aug. 2018.
