(Yicai Global) Sept. 15 -- China will continue to impose countervailing duties on potato starch originating in the European Union (EU) for a term of five years, starting from tomorrow.

China's ministry of commerce decided to implement countervailing measures against the potato starch imported from the EU for five years starting from Sep. 17, 2011.

Upon receiving the request from China's potato starch industry on Sep. 14, the investigation authority started an expiry review of the said measures.

It finally ruled that since the subsidy for imported potato starch originating in the EU may remain or reoccur, the termination of countervailing measures will continuously or once again impose damages on China's potato starch industry.
