(Yicai Global) Jan. 14 -- A unit of Huaming Power Equipment has become a designated supplier of high-power transformer switches to major US power energy group Berkshire Hathaway Energy.

Huaming Power's Shanghai subsidiary has signed a memorandum of understanding to provide BHE with tap switches for high-power transformers and technical training and field services, the unit said late yesterday.

About 40 companies supply BHE with high-power transformers, which are sold to nearly 100 countries and regions. Cooperation with them through BHE is of significance to the Chinese company as it seeks to develop its overseas markets, the statement added.

BHE is an energy group under Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway that owns four major US power grid companies, including PacifiCorp and MidAmerican Energy. It also has holdings in grid operators in Canada and the UK, public data show.
