(Yicai Global) June 19 -- China's electricity giant Huaneng Group will spend CNY20 billion (USD2.9 billion) to build the Tuoba Hydropower Station on the Lancang River.
The board of directors at Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower, Huaneng's unit, approved the investment project at a meeting today. The construction will take 82 months, it added, without disclosing the start of the project.
The Tuoba dam will have an installed capacity of 1.4 kilowatts and an annual output of 6.2 billion kilowatt hours. The river that originates from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau continues to Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam as the Mekong.
