(Yicai Global) Sept. 6 -- China's Jiayou International Logistics will work with China Civil Engineering Construction to modernize USD229 million worth of infrastructure, including 150 kilometers of roads, a port, and two border crossings, in Central Africa's Congo.

Jiayou penned a contract with the Congo branch of China Civil Engineering, the contractor of the project, the Beijing-based cross-border logistics service provider said in a statement yesterday.

The improved infrastructure is expected to spur growth among Chinese mining companies active in the region, including Zijin Mining, and Huayou Cobalt.

The project will improve transportation between China and Africa, as well as enhance Jiayou's core competitiveness and financial results, the firm said.

Jiayou made CNY2.2 billion (USD302.3 million) in revenue in the first half, up over 14 percent from a year ago. Its net profit rose almost 22 percent to CNY160 million (USD22.4 million).

Jiayou's [SH: 603871] share price climbed 1.3 percent to CNY32.40 (USD4.50) this morning.
