(Yicai Global) Oct. 24 -- Chinese video surveillance solutions provider Joyware Electronics and Canadian optical imaging firm NuraLogix will work together on the development and application of emotional artificial intelligence in the Chinese market.

Joyware has signed a cooperation framework agreement with Nuralogix's Chinese unit, the Hangzhou-based firm said in a statement.

Under the agreement, the parties will conduct product development and business expansion using emotional AI as a basis with the aim of providing products and services to clients in various industries

Joyware will use DeepAffexa, a cloud-based affective intelligence engine from NuraLogix, and a separate purchase contract will be drawn up regarding its usage.

The parties have specified two business directions, namely, situational emotion analysis and emotion analysis for public safety through the application of indicators such as heart rate, psychological pressure, blood pressure and respiratory rate.

The emotion analysis products will be used to check safety in scenarios such as airports and railway station. Products for situational emotion analysis will target applications in interrogation, psychological counseling and nursing care.

Based in Toronto, Canada, NuraLogix has pioneered a technique called transdermal optical imaging, along with DeepAffexa, to extract facial blood flow information via a conventional video camera and convert the results into in-depth emotional information through machine learning.
