(Yicai Global) Nov. 07 -- Lepu Medical Technology Beijing has unveiled the world's first bio-absorbable heart stent, Shanghai Securities News reported today.

The stent will degrade into carbon dioxide in about three years and be completely absorbed by the human body, the report added. It is the only approved stent of its kind in the world.

The main use of stents is to enlarge narrowed coronary arteries to improve blood flow.
