China's Main Stock Indexes Fall Below 10-Day Average

(Yicai Global) March 14 -- A slump on China's stock market continued into a second day today as the three benchmark indexes fell below the 10-day average.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed nearly 1.2 percent lower at 2,990.69 with a turnover of CNY356.2 billion (USD53.1 billion) while the Shenzhen Component Index slid 1.82 percent to 9,417.93 with CNY456.3 billion changing hands. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises in Shenzhen, dived almost 2.58 percent to 1,650.19, with CNY139.4 billion swapped.

Liquor and beverages were the only sector to post gains for the day while agriculture and internet firms led the losses, closing 5.88% and 5.22% lower, respectively.
