(Yicai Global) Jan. 9 -- Stock markets on the Chinese mainland opened higher again this morning after United States President Donald Trump played down an Iranian missile attack on American bases in Iraq.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened 0.51 percent higher at 3,082.64, while the Shenzhen Component Index started up 0.94 percent at 10,807.04. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, started the day 1.17 percent stronger at 1,884.42.

Tehran "appears to be standing down," Trump said at the White House yesterday after reporting that the Iranian attack did not harm American troops and caused minimal damage.
