China Markets Close Up After ChiNext Hits Four-Year High

(Yicai Global) June 19 -- Chinese stock markets closed higher today after the startup-focused ChiNext hit a four-year high in the afternoon session.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed up 0.96 percent at 2,967.63, while the Shenzhen Component Index rose to 11,668.13, up 1.51 percent. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, soared 2.36 percent to 2,319.45.

The Shanghai benchmark rose 1.64 percent throughout the week, while the Shenzhen gauge jumped 3.7 percent and the ChiNext surged 5.11 percent.
