(Yicai Global) -- China's commerce ministry has issued new rules on how to handle complaints coming from foreign-invested enterprises to improve the related feedback system.

The rules, which come into effect on Oct. 1, consist of five chapters and 33 articles, further refining the requirements of the foreign investment law and regulations, the ministry said in a statement yesterday.

The previous rules, published in 2006, will concurrently be repealed.

The new regulation will broaden the scope of complaints, clarifying that foreign-invested enterprises and foreign investors can consult with complaint agencies for solutions if finding that their legitimate rights and interests are being infringed upon by administrative acts, or report problems in the investment environment, and suggest ideas for policy improvement.

Business associations can also report investment climate issues to complaint agencies.

The rules should improve the working mechanism for complaints, clarify the procedures, and strengthen the protection of foreign investors' rights and interests.

China put its landmark foreign investment law into effect on Jan. 1, 2020, aiming to protect foreign investors' interests.
