(Yicai Global) Dec. 16 -- China scaled down its US Treasury bonds portfolio for the fifth month in a row in October, but remained the United States’ second-biggest creditor.

China pared its holding of US government debt by USD7.7 billion to USD1.054 trillion that month, the lowest level since January 2017, the US Treasury Department said yesterday

Biggest creditor Japan cut its US Treasuries load by USD6.7 billion to USD1.269 trillion, while total foreign holdings of the debt dropped for a third straight month, falling by USD2.6 billion to USD7.068 trillion.
