China to Proactively Help Its Enterprises Subjected to International Trade Dispute Cases China to Proactively Help Its Enterprises Subjected to International Trade Dispute Cases

(Yicai Global) Feb. 6 -- China will be more proactive in helping Chinese companies to deal with international trade disputes to safeguard China's industrial stature. China's official trade bodies will mobilize their means to solve trade frictions the companies may be involved. The move comes at a time when both the US and the European Union set new trade tariffs against Chinese producers.

China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, or CCPIT, a trade body of the central government which engages in developing business exchanges and cooperation with other countries, will strive to solve international trade disputes through consultation and dialogue, capacity cooperation and industry self-regulation, said its president Jiang Zengwei in Beijing yesterday.

CCPIT will initiate the "Chinese Enterprises 20 + 20 Going Out Plan," this year to support enterprise overseas investment in 20 key countries and 20 key overseas economic and trade cooperation zones, Jiang said at the national trade promotion work conference.

CCPIT will guide and support overseas investment of companies with clear development strategies. It will hold equipment manufacturing exhibitions and investment seminars and provide personalized advisory services. The trade body will also initiate more strategic cooperation with the state-owned enterprises and established private companies to help enhance their international reputation and influence.

CCPIT is China's largest trade promotion agency. Last year, it received a total of 17 international trade dispute cases involving USD870 million. It has successfully cooperated with and tackled multiple trade remedy investigations against China initiated by New Zealand, Vietnam, South Africa and some other countries and helped the affected enterprises to retain their market share, public information shows.
