China Unicom, Sunsea Pen Deal to Create IOT Application Enablement Platform China Unicom, Sunsea Pen Deal to Create IOT Application Enablement Platform

(Yicai Global) Feb. 14 -- Sunsea Telecommunications Co. will partner up with China Unicom, one of the country's big three telecoms operators, to set up an Internet of Things application enablement platform.

One of Sunsea's units penned the deal with a China Unicom Hong Kong Ltd. division, the Shenzhen-based telecoms equipment maker said in a statement. The agreement will see the companies integrate Sunsea's IOT cloud platform into China Unicom's AEP.

An AEP is a platform-as-a-service that allows developers to scale their products without worrying about the underlying infrastructure, data management or communications protocols. AEPs reduce costs and significantly cut the time required to create applications.

The pair will exploit China Unicom's technology and other market advantages to unveil tailor-made chip-level solutions for automotive electronics, industrial manufacturing and smart cities in order to minimize problems for downstream manufacturers, the statement added. China Unicom will prioritize products from Sunsea, who in return will not sign any similar deals with other companies.
