China’s WuXi Biologics Jumps After US Removes Unit From Unverified List China’s WuXi Biologics Jumps After US Removes Unit From Unverified List

(Yicai Global) Dec. 16 -- Shares of China's WuXi Biologics jumped after the Chinese drug developer said the last of its two subsidiaries has been removed from a list that makes it harder for the firm to buy US-made products.

WuXi Biologics' stock price [HKG: 2269] closed 5.5 percent up at HKD51.30 (USD6.60) after surging as much as 7.5 percent intraday. The shares are still over 40 percent down this year.

The US Department of Commerce has taken the Shanghai unit of the medical service provider out of the unverified list, the Jiangsu province-based parent said in a bourse filing today.

The American commerce department had put 33 Chinese entities on the list in February amid restricted site visits so the firms needed additional permits to import products from the United States. Routine procedures could not be carried out due to China's Covid-19 outbreaks in the past two years, WuXi Biologics explained.

The contract research, development and manufacturing organization said earlier it has been following export regulations and never exported any US-imported products over the past decade.
