(Yicai Global) May 11 -- ChinaJoy, the country’s largest international gaming and digital entertainment expo, is to proceed as scheduled this summer as the Covid-19 outbreak is now under control.

Under the theme of Technologies Set the Trends in Digital Entertainment, the fair will be held between July 31 and Aug. 3 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, the Shanghai Observer reported today, citing Han Zhihai, secretary-general of the expo’s organizing committee.

“Preparations for the 18th China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference are well underway,” Han said, adding that booth reservations are proceeding smoothly and exhibitors are enthusiastic about attending, which has greatly boosted the confidence of the organizers.

ChinaJoy is held each year in Shanghai. It encompasses games, comics and animations, internet film and television, internet music, online literature, e-sports, trendy toys, smart entertainment software and hardware and other digital entertainment fields. Last year the expo attracted 364,700 visitors.

This year’s highlights include a global smart entertainment hardware expo, a comic and animation exhibit, the ChinaJoy toy show, fifth-generation-network-based cloud games as well as board games, Han said.

Covid-19 prevention measures will be in place. All visitors will have their temperatures taken and will be issued with a health QR code for easy monitoring when they enter. Exhibition hours will be extended and viewing times at popular display areas will be staggered.

It will host a brand-new Global Cloud Game Industry Conference as well as the China International Digital Interactive Entertainment Industry Conference, Global Game Industry Summit, China Game Developers Conference and Global E-sports Conference.
