China Unveils Initiative to Build Nationwide AI Services Ecosystem(Yicai) Sept. 1 -- China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology plans to conduct a special action to cultivate artificial intelligence application service providers, forming a Chinese AI application service ecosystem that covers all scenarios.
The MIIT will cultivate AI service providers with strong service capabilities and industry influence, aiming to have 2,000 of them by the end of this year to build a multi-level AI application service provider echelon, it said in a notice issued yesterday.
By the end of next year, the number of AI service providers will exceed 3,000, creating an AI application service ecosystem featuring all-element synergy, full-chain integration, and all-scenario coverage, according to the MIIT.
AI application service providers are enterprises or institutions that provide AI solution consulting, planning, delivery and implementation, operation management, security governance, and other services around users’ intelligent needs.
The MIIT will also require all regions to cultivate composite AI application talents who are business-savvy, model-proficient, security-aware, and delivery-capable, and increase efforts to buy AI models, AI agents, tokens, and other services.
Moreover, the MIIT will support the docking of service providers with national computing power network hubs, national computing power interconnection nodes, Chinese computing power platforms, and other resources, open up the call interface for industry datasets, industry models, AI agents, and test scenario results to service providers, or present them with a testing and trial channel.
