(Yicai) Dec. 26 -- NavInfo, a Chinese supplier of digital mapping services, said a unit has received an order for smart cockpit chips from a well-known electronics company.
NavInfo subsidiary Hefei Autochips will supply the client with a new generation of smart cockpit chips, codenamed AC8025, its Beijing-based parent company announced late yesterday, adding that the deal will help grow its smart car-related business.
The deal’s value and shipments will depend on the customer's sales of products that use the chips, NavInfo noted, without disclosing any financial data or providing information about the vendor.
AC8025 is the second-generation smart cockpit chip developed by Hefei Autochips, according to the unit's website. It provides smart cockpits with high-efficiency artificial intelligence application solutions and has stronger and more flexible video output capabilities by supporting up to seven in-car displays.
NavInfo's revenue from its auto chip business, including those for smart cockpits, jumped 43 percent to CNY502 million (USD70.3 million) last year, accounting for 15 percent of its total, the firm’s annual earnings report showed. Revenue rose 9.4 percent.
NavInfo's shares [SHE: 002405] finished 2.1 percent down at CNY8.71 (USD1.22) each in Shenzhen today.
