(Yicai) Sept. 19 -- Neusoft's shares surged by their daily trading limit after the Chinese software developer said it became the designated supplier of smart cockpit domain controllers of a well-known Chinese automaker.
Neusoft [SHA: 600718] soared 10 percent to CNY11.30 (USD1.59) a share as of 1.40 p.m. in Shanghai today.
The four-year deal is expected to generate sales revenue of CNY5.6 billion (USD787.8 million), Shenyang-based Neusoft announced late yesterday. The client will use the products on the carmaker’s multiple new models equipped with the Qualcomm 8397 chip-based solution, with the new cars to start mass production and hit the market in turns from the fourth quarter of next year, it noted.
Smart cockpit domain controllers are the core control unit of vehicles' smart cockpit systems and a key carrier for enhancing their interaction experience and intelligence level.
The smart cockpit domain controllers use an artificial intelligence model and can identify users' needs through voice, visuals, and tactile senses to provide them with precise services, Neusoft noted.
Neusoft has had a long-term partnership with the automaker, which has used its smart cockpit and communication products on many vehicles, the supplier pointed out, without disclosing the client's name or a delivery schedule due to a confidentiality agreement.
Neusoft counts Geely Holding Group, Changan Automobile Group, FAW Group, and GAC Group among its large carmaking clients, according to its first-half financial report.
Neusoft saw revenue from its smart vehicle-related businesses reach nearly CNY2.1 billion (USD295.2 million) in the six months ended June 30, accounting for about 44 percent of its total, it said. This became its largest income source, mainly thanks to the mass production of smart cockpit domain controllers and in-vehicle software platforms, it added.
