(Yicai) Aug. 11 -- Shares in Xi'an Sinofuse Electric surged by as much as 4.4 percent today after the Chinese circuit protector maker said it has been selected as the exclusive supplier of multi-position transfer switches for battery packs by a US new energy vehicle company in a deal expected to generate up to CNY200 million (USD30 million) in sales.

Sinofuse’s share price [SHE: 301031] closed up 2.9 percent at CNY89.81 (USD13.31). Earlier in the day it hit CNY91.10.

SinoFuse will supply multi-position transfer switches for battery packs used in the client's 900VDC platform vehicles starting in the fourth quarter of 2028, the Xi’an-based firm said yesterday, citing the exclusive supplier agreement penned with the US automaker.

The switches can flexibly configure the connections between battery modules, enabling efficient and convenient charging, it said. Additionally, in the event of a fault in one of the battery modules, the switch can automatically disconnect the faulty module to ensure vehicle safety.

The switches are designed for both passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles. Compared with the boost and voltage-conversion solutions used in traditional vehicle architectures, the product features a simpler and more reliable structure, straightforward control logic and eliminates the need for additional power-conversion components, SinoFuse said.

However, the firm did not disclose the project’s supply period, saying only that actual sales volumes will depend on market demand for the relevant vehicle models. The company did not identify the US client, citing a confidentiality agreement.

Sinofuse’s main products include pyrotechnic and smart fuses designed to protect electrical devices from damage caused by short circuits. The firm already counts major overseas automakers such as Tesla, Daimler and Hyundai Motor among its clients, according to its 2025 annual report.
