(Yicai) Feb. 29 -- Sales of consumer-grade extended reality devices in China rose 6.5 percent last year from the previous one, thanks to the demonstration effect of the Apple Vision Pro.

Some 757,000 XR devices were sold in China last year, according to a report released by Cinno Research today. About 70 percent of them were virtual reality devices, down 14 percent from a year before, and the remaining 30 percent were augmented reality ones, up 139 percent in the period.

The Vision Pro was officially unveiled in June last year, becoming the focus of the industry attention. Even though the device has not yet hit the Chinese market, it still helped more investment and supply chain resources to be redirected to the XR industry, Cinno Research noted.

ByteDance’s Pico is the leader in China’s VR market, having seized a 52 percent share, while TCL RayNeo and Xreal are the leaders in the AR market, according to the report.

China’s AR device sales may grow 34 percent this year from last year, but sales of VR devices will fall 22 percent, resulting in a 5.4 percent decline in overall XR device sales, Cinno Research predicted.

With the official launch of the Vision Pro this year, the XR industry will shift to the direction of mixed reality with higher-order interaction, computer capabilities, and application scenarios, Cinno Research said, adding that the popularization of MR devices may still need three to five years.
