China’s Zhongfu Shenying Soars by Limit After Releasing World’s Strongest Mass-Produced Carbon Fiber China’s Zhongfu Shenying Soars by Limit After Releasing World’s Strongest Mass-Produced Carbon Fiber

(Yicai) March 12 -- Shares of Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber surged by the exchange-imposed daily trading limit after the Chinese supplier of carbon fibers under China National Building Material Group unveiled the world’s strongest carbon fiber product with mass production capabilities.

Zhongfu Shenying [SHA: 688295] was trading up 20 percent at CNY43.25 (USD6.28) as of 2.45 p.m. in Shanghai today.

SYT80, a T1200-grade ultra-high strength carbon fiber independently developed by Zhongfu Shenying, made its global debut yesterday, becoming the strongest carbon fiber product in the world to achieve 100-ton level mass production, Yicai learned at the launch event.

With an engineering tensile strength of over 8,000 megapascal, SYT80 has a diameter of one-10th of a human hair, while its tensile strength is 10 times that of ordinary steel despite its density being only one-quarter that of ordinary steel. It possesses excellent mechanical properties, as well as high-temperature, corrosion, and fatigue resistance. A piece of this material the thickness of a finger can lift an aircraft weighing about 80 tons.

SYT80 features ultimate low density and ultra-high strength characteristics, said Chen Qiufei, director and general manager of Zhongfu Shenying and head of the SYT80 carbon fiber research and development project. It will make domestic large aircraft lighter and safer, improve aerospace launch efficiency, and push the boundaries of deep space exploration further, he added.

Moreover, SYT80 will provide a more reliable backbone support for hydrogen energy storage and transportation, the low-altitude economy, and the embodied intelligence industry, enabling longer driving ranges for new energy vehicles, lighter and more durable medical devices, and superior performance in sports equipment, Chen explained.

CNBM will leverage the advantages of its two major carbon fiber production bases -- the 10,000-ton base in Xining and the 30,000-ton base in Lianyungang -- to steadily advance the full commissioning of the Lianyungang factory and further expand the production scale of high-performance carbon fibers, Chairman Zhou Yuxian said.
