(Yicai Global) Nov. 29 -- China will resume imports of rice from Niigata, Japan the country's Customs agency announced yesterday, but without citing the grounds for its decision.

China suspended imports of all agricultural and fisheries products as well as animal feed produced in Fukushima, Miyagi, Tokyo and seven other Japanese prefectures following the 2011 accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant that leaked radiation after it sustained damage in a tsunami triggered by an earthquake.

Niigata lies on the Sea of Japan in the west of the main island of Honshu, and the rice it produces is considered the country's finest.
