(Yicai) Aug. 7 -- DJI Technology has entered the smart home appliances market, with the Chinese drone giant releasing its first robot vacuum cleaner.
DJI launched its new Romo vacuum cleaner series yesterday, featuring the Romo S priced at CNY4,699 (USD655), the Romo A at CNY5,399, and the Romo P at CNY6,799.
Romo is a new smart cleaning brand under DJI's innovation ecosystem, The Paper reported, citing sources from the company. The possibility of its independent development will continue to be explored in the future, they pointed out.
The intelligence level across DJI's brands does not differ significantly, but the Shenzhen-based firm can leverage its expertise in vision, machine learning, and environmental sensing from its drones business to help its cleaning robots achieve a higher level of intelligence, according to Senior Director of Corporate Strategy Zhang Xiaonan.
The competition in the robot vacuum market is intensifying, with the top five manufacturers -- US' iRobot and China's Ecovacs Robotics, Xiaomi, Roborock Technology, and Narwal -- holding around 61 percent of the global market share in 2023, according to a research report by QYResearch.
