(Yicai) Aug. 23 -- Two and a half years after its establishment, Chinese electric vehicle startup Polestone has officially opened reservations for its first model.
Polestone, which is owned by Rox Motor, will accept orders for the Polestone 01 from today, with deliveries expected to begin in November.
The Polestone 01, produced by Beijing Automobile Works, is equipped with a battery from Contemporary Amperex Technology and the Qualcomm 8155 chipset, and has a pure electric cruising range of 235 kilometers and a comprehensive range of fuel and electricity of 1,115 km.
The Polestone 01’s intelligent driving solution standard version is from Yihang Yuanzhi Technology, and its intelligent driving solution high-end version is from Pony.ai. It comes in six- and seven-seat versions, priced at CNY359,000 and CNY349,900 (USD49,680 and USD48,420), respectively.
Rox Motor was established in January 2021 by Chang Jing, founder and chief executive of robot vacuum maker Roborock Technology. The carmaker is valued at about USD2 billion after receiving funds from renowned companies, including IDG Capital, Tencent, and Sequoia Capital.
Rox Motor and Chery Automobile announced in March last year to have joined hands on a vehicle project in Wuhu, where Chery is headquartered. Expected to have an investment of CNY7 billion (USD960 million) and an annual output of 200,000 EVs, the project was abandoned.
On Aug. 17, Rox Motor signed a deal with Weiqiao Pioneering Group, the parent company of BAW and one of the world’s largest aluminum makers, to cooperate on new energy vehicles.
