(Yicai Global) March 20 -- Smart electric vehicle startup SF Motors Inc. will debut three new SUVs in its first new product debut in Silicon Valley on March 28.
SF Motors, a US unit of Chinese automaker Chongqing Sokon Industry Group Co., will also unveil its electric drive and smart driving technology at the event, including efficient and reliable battery technology, high-performance motors, and smart driving and telematics systems, all developed by its Silicon Valley team, NEV news website D1EV.com reported yesterday.
Sokon Industry Group set up SF Motors in 2016. The company acquired for USD33 million in October all the stock of InEvit Inc., a battery and electric powertrain startup founded by Tesla Inc. co-founder Martin Eberhard. Eberhard and his team joined SF Motors full-time through this acquisition.
SF Motors also acquired US military vehicle manufacturer AM General LLC in Indiana in November in a bid to expand its business in the US, European and Chinese markets.
SF Motors further obtained an autonomous vehicle driving testing license from the US state of California in January and signed a long-term partnership for smart driving technology research with the respected University of Michigan in the state of the same name.
