(Yicai Global) June 24 -- Chinese health authority said today that it received reports of 12 new confirmed Covid-19 cases yesterday, of which nine were domestically transmitted and three were imported.

Of the domestically transmitted cases, seven were reported in Beijing and two in Hebei province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

Of the imported cases, two were reported in Shanghai and one in Shaanxi province, according to the commission.

No deaths were reported yesterday on the mainland, while four new suspected domestically transmitted cases were reported in Beijing.

As of yesterday, the mainland had reported a total of 1,888 imported cases. Of the cases, 1,801 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery and 87 were being treated, the commission said.

The commission said three people were discharged from hospitals after recovery yesterday while the number of severe cases decreased by one to 12.

The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 83,430 by yesterday, including 368 patients who were still being treated, 78,428 people who had been discharged after recovery, and 4,634 people who died of the disease.

The commission said 18 people were still suspected of being infected with the virus.

It added that 7,557 close contacts were still under medical observation while 584 people were discharged from medical observation yesterday.

Also yesterday, three new asymptomatic cases, including one from abroad, were reported on the mainland. The commission said 100 suspected asymptomatic cases, including 59 from overseas, were still under medical observation.

By the end of yesterday, 1,177 confirmed cases had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (including six deaths), 45 in the Macau Special Administrative Region and 446 in Taiwan (including seven deaths).

A total of 1,083 patients in Hong Kong, 45 in Macau and 435 in Taiwan have been discharged from hospital after recovery.
