(Yicai Global) May 7 -- Stock markets on the Chinese mainland rebound slightly this morning after yesterday's huge losses, though trading volume was lower than usual as investors waited for market guidance.

The Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.32 percent at 2,915.87 going into the lunch break, while the Shenzhen Component Index was 1.64 percent higher at 9,080.18. The ChiNext Price Index, which tracks growth enterprises listed in Shenzhen, closed up 0.88 percent at 1,508.11.

The three major stock benchmarks crashed yesterday amid turmoil across the world's financial markets.
